The social heart of the playing fields community, the social club has low-cost membership for all residents and visitors, and is home to many events and activities.
North Cave Sports and Social club is situated at the playing fields, with the main entrance opposite the church. Its purpose is to provide a focus for local sporting activities and social events. Its wider objective is to raise money in order to support and maintain the grounds, the cricket club, the football club and others. There is a well-stocked and affordably-priced bar and a pool table. Membership is only £5 a year.
The club is run by a committee of about 20 people, elected annually from within the local community. Meetings are held once a month.
Each year we hold two major fund-raising events: Bonfire Night and the Summer Gala.
The club and bar are always open on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, from 8:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday have a late licence 'til 2.00 a.m. The bar is often open on the other week days depending on club events.
North Cave Social Club is operated by the Playing Fields Association.
The PFA is a non-profit making charitable trust and all its monies are reinvested in the sports and play facilities. It provides an excellent children’s play area which is free to use and which is visited by many people from the surrounding area – not just from the village. The PFA also maintains the sports grounds for the playing of football at all levels, cricket and some other sports.
The club itself is an important village hub and hosts various other teams such as pool and darts. There are also regular social functions at the club including some from the nearby church. The PFA and its club receive no funding from the local authority and are entirely financed by voluntary efforts and donations.
